  Organizing Thought of the Day

The Best is Yet to Come

We all have those occasional dark and dreary days when we throw our hands up in the air and exclaim, 'I give up.'

This may be after cooking for hours only to realize you missed including a vital ingredient in the recipe and the entire meal has to be scrapped. It may follow a day when it feels like everything possible could go wrong, and then something else unfortunate happens on top of those things. It might be after a relationship that just ended, a fender bender, or getting an unexpected bill in the mail.

Everyone has bad days and bad experiences. While the situation may be different for each person, nobody is immune to disappointment throughout a lifetime.

A good attitude to keep in your pocket, to be pulled out whenever necessary, is one that assures you that 'something better is just around the corner?' This way of thinking about life leads us to believe that all of our past experiences, positive or negative, have been important and can be used as tools to steer us towards something better.

The daily ups and downs that happen are lessons that can help us get through the situation and assist us in making better decisions in the future.

So, you had to scrap the meal. OK, next time you'll follow the recipe a bit more closely and tonight you'll order in pizza.

You've had a day when everything went wrong. But really, did EVERYTHING go wrong? Probably a good part of your day went right. You woke up this morning. You, and all your family members, arrived safely at work or school. You got three out of five TO DOs done. I could go on. It's very easy to focus on the things that went wrong, versus those that went right. Focus on the good. Tomorrow's another day.

A relationship that ended. Yes, it takes time to process and get through. But happiness can be found, in time, in another relationship.

A fender bender? No, not fun at all. But that's why you have insurance.

An unexpected bill? A little bit of brainstorming...maybe even a bit of help from an outside source...can get you over that hurdle.

When you have a busy workday ahead of you, with many tasks to complete and goals to achieve, by maintaining this attitude you can better face your workload with a positive, determined frame of mind. By accepting the fact that things can only get better, you're less likely to give up.

And yes, on some days things go really and truly bad. Even on those days, it's important to lift ourselves up out of the darkness emotionally. It may not fix the current situation, but what's ahead of us depends on how we handle what is behind us...and upon us now.

Believing that life can only improve encourages us to push ourselves to achieve our goals, to think positive, and to do what it takes to give ourselves better tomorrows. This attitude confirms that we wholeheartedly believe that a negative situation is not the final destination; just something that we're in the process of overcoming.

Whether you are 18 years old or 80 years young, the decision to believe that 'the best is yet to come' can provide a wonderful, exciting feeling about each new day...that anything is possible.

P.S. If you want more happiness in your heart, be sure you're adding a bunch of 'happiness actions' into your life. You'll find those happiness actions in my resource, Happy for Life!

  Inspiration

"Keep the faith that the best is yet to come. Keep the faith that the next extraordinary version of you is being crafted even now; that nothing can deter you from keeping your commitment to achieving your goals set for today; that you can better your best. Keep the faith. Move forward in spite of your fears and despite any evidence to the contrary. Believe that it's possible!"
