  Organizing Thought of the Day

Organizing Tips from the Easter Bunny

Hope you're having a glorious day so far. You may be celebrating Easter today, like my family, or you may be doing something else. No matter what, I hope you and your family are well and I'm sending positive vibes and good thoughts your way.

Can you guess what's in my Easter basket this morning? If you guessed a basket-full of organizing tips from the Easter bunny, you are 100% correct. Here goes...

1. Put all your eggs in one basket. It has been said again and again, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. In some instances, and especially when it comes to finances, this is good advice that warns us not to concentrate all of our efforts and resources in one area, because it may not work out and you could lose everything. But in some instances, like when it comes to getting organized, I'm giving you the 'go ahead' to go right ahead and put all your eggs in one basket. After all, if your eggs are here, there, and everywhere, it's going to result in clutter, tripping hazards, and at least a few of those eggs getting misplaced.

2. Don't allow your clutter to multiply like bunnies. One way to avoid this is storing like-items with like-items. First off, all those items will then be in one place when you need them. Additionally, when similar items are stored together, you'll be easily able to see if you have multiples of the same thing. For instance, do you really need three containers of conditioner or two half-used jars of strawberry jam?

3. Hunt for Easter eggs on Easter. Hunt for clutter when it's not Easter. Grab a large basket and choose a cluttered drawer, shelf, or surface. Put everything in that area in the basket. Lay a large bath towel on your kitchen table to protect the surface. Then, dump the items from the basket onto the towel. In doing so, you'll be able to see all the items. Sort them into three piles:

a. YES: means keep. Put it back neatly, or assign/bring it to a more appropriate home.

b. NO: means trash. Put it in the trash immediately.

c: GIVE: means someone else could use it. Put it in your DONATE box.

Your once cluttered area should now be beautifully clear.

4. Repurpose your Easter baskets. Many of us have wicker Easter baskets in our homes, but why have something that only gets used once a year? During the rest of the year, these can be used to keep everyday items neat and organized. For instance, you can use them to store stuffed animals, pantry items, or to hold books or magazines.

Have an Eggstra-organized day and a beautiful Easter/spring day!

Because it's impossible to stay on top of everything going on without writing things down, people are getting inundated with more and more paper every day.

You have to remember a birthday, so that gets written on a calendar. You have to make a grocery list, so you scribble down a few items and stick the list on the fridge. Someone gives you a phone number, and it gets written in the address book. You're planning your garden, and that information is stored in a notebook. You want to keep track of the movies you want to see, or the books you want to read--another sheet of paper. A friend gives you an email address on a sticky note that is now attached to your computer monitor.

Paper, paper and more paper--and it's all over your home!

Information is getting lost. Appointments are missed. Goals aren't being met. And all of this adds up to chaos and frustration.

This is where the Get Organized Now! Easy Organizer comes in and saves the day. It allows you to organize all of your information so it's in one place and easily found when you need it!

Here's what just one customer had to say:

The Easy Organizer is just that--it's so easy. I've got lists now in one place that before I'd been carrying around in my head, my pockets, around my desk, in the kitchen... Before, I had post-it notes all over the place. Now they're in my Easy Organizer. A lot of great ideas and important information has been lost in the shuffle before this! I love this thing. Knowing where to find things right away and having a very simple way of entering the info--many kinds, in many forms--is such a relief. This was a great investment...and, really, it's such a great value for everything it includes! Thanks so much!
