Fabulous Organizing Tips and Thoughts
from GON Readers

Here are a bunch of tips and thoughts from GON Readers to brighten your day...

Teaching Kids Responsibility and Time Management

My husband and I work full time, so my children are home for several hours before we get home from work. I always try to teach them responsibility as well as time management, so I have daily chores for them when they get home.

I used to write them down on a wipe off board but found myself writing the same things week after week. Because of this, I took index cards and typed headings on each of them with detailed instructions underneath.

An example of one of the cards would be 'Clean the Kitchen.' Underneath the heading would be 1) Wipe off counters, 2) put dishes in dishwasher, 3) sweep and mop the floor, etc.

Then they do those things that need to be done. Each morning it is much faster to flip through the cards and now they know exactly what to do.

The Answer to My Sewing Clutter Issues
I found Ziploc-style bags to be the answer to so many of my sewing clutter issues. I bought them at a dollar store in quart, gallon and snack-size.

The gallon bags are perfect for my patterns, grouped by type, such as costume, tops and skirts and remnant fabrics. The quart and snack-size ones help hold all my notions such as buttons, snaps, elastic and thread spools, in order in my basket.

All are easy to label and make it super-simple to find everything!

Less Stressed Pets and Fewer Trips for You
If you have a pet, schedule routine vet visits at the same time. For example, schedule teeth cleaning for when your pet's vaccination is due. This means fewer trips and the pet is less stressed. The vaccination can often be given while the pet is sedated, which means less pain for him. Of course, don't put off emergencies or treatments that needs priority.

If you have several pets, you can also look at taking your pets in at the same time.

Because it's impossible to stay on top of everything going on without writing things down, people are getting inundated with more and more paper every day.

You have to remember a birthday, so that gets written on a calendar. You have to make a grocery list, so you scribble down a few items and stick the list on the fridge. Someone gives you a phone number, and it gets written in the address book. You're planning your garden, and that information is stored in a notebook. You want to keep track of the movies you want to see, or the books you want to read--another sheet of paper. A friend gives you an email address on a sticky note that is now attached to your computer monitor.

Paper, paper and more paper--and it's all over your home!

Information is getting lost. Appointments are missed. Goals aren't being met. And all of this adds up to chaos and frustration.

This is where the Get Organized Now! Easy Organizer comes in and saves the day. It allows you to organize all of your information so it's in one place and easily found when you need it!

Here's what just one customer had to say:

The Easy Organizer is just that--it's so easy. I've got lists now in one place that before I'd been carrying around in my head, my pockets, around my desk, in the kitchen... Before, I had post-it notes all over the place. Now they're in my Easy Organizer. A lot of great ideas and important information has been lost in the shuffle before this! I love this thing. Knowing where to find things right away and having a very simple way of entering the info--many kinds, in many forms--is such a relief. This was a great investment...and, really, it's such a great value for everything it includes! Thanks so much!
