Easy Ways to Start Getting Your Kitchen Organized
|
The kitchen is the heart of the home and one of the most used rooms. There are
so many storage ideas to aide in organizing a kitchen. Here are just a few:
1. Give everything a home. When you assign homes for items, you
will know where to put them when you arrive home from the grocery store, when
you're done using them, etc.
2. Store like-items together. Store like-items together...all baking
supplies in one section, all mugs in one area, all canned goods in their
own space, etc.
3. Contain small items. You can store packets of mixes (taco mix and
such) in a small box, like I do. This
is then your go-to box when you need a mix, and the box keeps them from getting
pushed to the back of a cabinet. I store extracts (vanilla, almond, etc.) in
another small box...again, this keeps them all in one place and easily
accessible.
4. Utilize wall space. A wall-mounted or a ceiling-mounted pot and pan
rack will save considerable room within the kitchen cabinets. Wire organizers,
pegboards, or even extra shelving could be useful. There are paper towel racks
that either attach to the wall or are magnetic and connect to the fridge. There
are racks or hangers that allow you to hang your utensils up on the wall and up
off the counter.
5. Use a pot/lid organizer. When you use
pot/lid organizers,
you can store pot and pan lids, trays, cookie sheets or muffin trays, upright,
in your cabinets.
6. Reduce wasted space in deep cabinets. My kitchen pantry cabinets are
deep. When cabinets are deep, they're notorious for getting disorganized in a
hurry. My husband installed pull-out shelving years ago. I can't tell you how
much this has helped. Because of these shelves, I can utilize all of my pantry
cabinet space, nothing gets pushed to the back, and I can easily see and access
what I need.
7. Store items near where they're used. When organizing the kitchen, try
your best to store items where they're used. For instance, store cutting boards
near the area where you chop your veggies, store cooking utentils near the
stove, store dish washing supplies near (or under) the kitchen sink.

Here's What GON in Five Minutes! Means to Me
|
"Just want to thank you for giving me ideas and direction. I've been a
person who, in the past was very disorganized. People now compliment me on how
organized I seem to be. I really want to stress what a time saver organization
really is. I lost a lot of my vision two years ago and if I didn't have some
organization techniques, there would be much frustration. Thank you!"
