Maria,

I read your newsletter every day and learn something new. Thank you!

Awhile ago, you mentioned your daughter's love of stuffed animals.

My son had a big collection when he was young, and now as a 23-year old young adult, he still treasures some of them, but has a large group he no longer wants.

Do you know where I could donate them to?

Once I heard that a therapist working with senior citizens with memory issues was collecting stuffed animals, but I think she must have had enough, so she did not respond to my wish to donate.

Hi TS,

Yes, my daughter has always loved stuffed animals and, even as an 18-year old, she still does. It's very sweet that your son still treasures some of his as well. Here are a few suggestions:

SAFE: Stuffed Animals for Emergencies accepts stuffed animal donations for children who recently experienced a natural disaster or emergency.
Local Donation Centers: I checked with several local donation centers in my area (Goodwill, Salvation Army, some local church drop offs, etc.) and they all accept stuffed animals, so hopefully they do in your area as well. A quick call is all it takes to find out.
Local homeless centers: Most of us cannot imagine not having a home to live in. Your stuffed animal donation could bring a smile to someone's heart who desperately needs one.

In addition, some day care centers, senior centers, orphanages may be in need right now. Call to find out their needs, as well as to determine if they have any covid-19 protocols that apply to items being donated.
