Use up your wrapping paper and gift bags before buying more. Consider buying plain, brown Kraft paper bags and wrap. They can be used for all occasions. You can always dress them with a pretty ribbon, and you won't end up with a surplus of gift bags and wrap
for random holidays and occasions.
Make Your Bedroom Your Organized, Peaceful Retreat
After a day of work, household chores, caring for your family, or all three, your bedroom should be the one place you can go to at the end of the day to feel relaxed, at peace, and ready for a restful night's sleep. Here are a few ways to make that room a peaceful retreat.
1) No clutter. Clutter equals chaos and there's no place for it in your bedroom.
2) Leave work behind. If you have a work area in your bedroom, use a decorative folding
screen to hide it when you're not working. Your mind needs rest from your work, and that's very hard to do when you're in the same room as a desk filled with paperwork and projects. A screen serves as a physical and emotional separator.
3) Keep sleep-helper items on or in your nightstand. Items like a sleep mask, ear plugs,
lip balm, hand cream, tissues, your reading glasses, and other things you like having nearby make for a good night's sleep. Keep small items contained in a pretty basket or container. Be sure you check this basket every week or so to be sure it's not a bunch of clutter you never use. Whatever is in there is for daily use and comfort.
4) Launder your bed linens. Do this every week, or every other week at minimum. Consider showering at night, instead of in the morning. This will help keep your bed linens cleaner, longer.
5) Embrace minimalism. The less "visual noise" in your bedroom, the better. Think about the emptiness of hotel rooms when you walk into them. They're designed that way to encourage rest and peacefulness. When you walk into your own bedroom at home, how close is it to the restful atmosphere of
a nice hotel room? That's what I always try to aim for.
