One of the biggest misconceptions people have about getting organized is that they have to make major changes to start seeing results.
Here are four super-simple ways to instantly make an area look more organized.
1. Use the same types of hangers. If your closet is a cacophony of hangers in different styles and colors, it's automatically going to look more chaotic. Use the same types and colors of hangers in your closet.
I like using simple wood hangers. They're sturdy and they always make everything in my closet look like a
spent a pretty penny on it...even if I didn't.
2. Fold towels neatly. When you fold towels and put them in your closet, fold them so you can see the fold and not all of the loose "ends." It automatically looks more organized this way.
3. Contain what looks messy. If you have an area that looks messy, like a bathroom counter piled with makeup, a messy nightstand with all of your bedtime needs, or random piles of paper, they will all look a whole lot neater when these items are contained.
There are so many pretty baskets, bins, containers, paper holders, etc. available.
By the way, if you're planning to buy a number of containers or baskets for one closet or shelf, buy them in the same color and/or the same style. This will make them look more uniform and consistent, making them more pleasing to the eye.
4. Make your sofa a nice focal point. When sofa cushions are askew or they look "just sat on," a room can immediately look messy. The same effect happens when throw pillows are "squished" or tossed about.
Punch and adjust sofa cushions so they look nice. Then, fluff any throw pillows and display them in an orderly arrangement.
