Pillow Talk: A Basic Course in Pillows
|
Have you bought a pillow lately? Recently I discovered that pillow shopping was
not that easy.
There are so many different kinds: a wide variety of materials, densities, and
prices. Here is a quick, basic breakdown of the most common pillows.
Down: Softest (and most expensive) of the feather options. Noted for
comfort and coziness. Not for people allergic to feathers.
Feather: More affordable than down, but sometimes people can actually
feel the quills. Requires regular fluffing.
Feather and down: A less expensive combination that some people find
more supportive than pure down.
Down alternative: Usually made of microfiber, down alternatives are
hypoallergenic and often inexpensive.
Memory foam: May be either a block of memory foam or shredded foam.
Memory foam tends to be more supportive than feathers.
Latex: Another type of foam noted for durability and cooling. Resists
dust and mites. Not for those allergic to latex.
With feather pillows, you have to decide between high, medium, and low loft.
Other pillows offer choices of soft, medium, and firm. Foam may provide more
support and be helpful with neck pain. Some pillows are more suited for either
side sleepers, back sleepers, or combo sleepers. Some foam pillows have an
inner case that you can unzip and remove or add shredded foam to customize
them.
First, determine your sleep position, how much support you want, and any
allergies. It may be necessary to order online. If a pillow is expensive, find
out about return policies. Some companies let you try for up to thirty days.
Finding the right pillow for you is an important TO DO. After all, everybody
sleeps for hours...it's one of the household items you purchase that you
get massive use out of. Getting a good night's sleep is important.
By the way,
most 4-star hotels use 50/50 pillows.
These feature a 50/50 down to feather ratio. So if you love nice hotel pillows,
like I do, this may be a good choice for you. Sweet dreams.

Here's What GON in Five Minutes! Means to Me
|
"The other day, my husband was on my computer and accidentally deleted
your newsletter issue. I hadn't read it yet, and was so bummed. But then I
remembered you had your past newsletters on your web site. Such a nice
resource, and my husband promised he'd be extra careful with the GON in 5
Minutes Ezine from now on. LOL! Yes, it's that important to me and, rest
assured, he's aware of that now!"
