I was chatting with my good friend, Patti, the other day. We were discussing outdoor flower arrangements and how it's fun to set up the arrangements and the flower locations just a bit different than the previous year.
Of course, we could make it easy and just do the exact same arrangements, in the same pots, and place them in the same place. There's certainly nothing wrong with that. But when it comes to decorating, I sometimes like to change things up.
That being said, there are some things that I always put in the same exact place. When they're not in their designated spots, the world is a bit off kilter for me.
For instance, let's say I'm looking for the peanut butter. When it's not being spread on bread, it lives in our lazy Susan cabinet, lower shelf, all the way on the left.
When I'm looking for my mop, I know where to find it. It's in our laundry room, in the closet, on the wall- mounted mop holder, first slot.
When I need my white denim jacket, it's in the master bedroom closet, on the rod to the back of the closet, on the left hand side of the rod with my other spring jackets.
When items like this are not where they're supposed to be, it's not fun. Then we're left wondering, for instance, if someone used the last of the peanut butter and didn't put it on the grocery list, or if it's
in some other cabinet. Or we're searching for the mop. Is it in the garage? The basement? Or the jacket. Did I leave it at a restaurant? Is it in the car?
When these types of items are put in their designated homes when not in use, they're easily found and there is no stress or searching.
