5 Things You Probably Should Replace Today

The other day, I opened a container of garbanzo beans that my husband was storing in a plastic container...leftover from a can he opened for a salad. When I removed the lid, I immediately detected an odor and knew they were not good to eat. So I pitched them.

This morning, he asked me where his beans were. I smiled and said, "I threw them out and probably saved your life doing so. You're welcome." LOL.

All kidding aside, if you happen to be saving garbanzo beans as leftovers, they really have to be stored in an airtight container, and eaten within 3-5 days.

Anyway, this got me thinking about things many of hang onto way too long. I'm going to list five things that come to mind today, and then tomorrow, I'll list five more. Here goes:

Disposable razor: So many folks I know keep and use these for months, but they should be actually be replaced every 7 to 10 shaves. Doing so will help ensure a smooth, safe shave each time. Also, you're not storing yours in your shower, are you? They should be stored in a cool, dry place until you're ready to use them.

Mascara and Eyeliner: These should be replaced every three months to avoid eye infections. Plus, mascara will not perform well once it begins to get dry and clumpy.

Toothbrush: You're likely going to the dentist every six months and you probably get a new toothbrush when you go. However, to ensure your teeth and gums are getting properly cleaned in between, your toothbrush should be replaced every three months.

Fire extinguisher: If you can't remember the last time you replaced your fire extinguisher...or you've been living in your home and know it has been years and years since you bought one...you're probably due for a replacement. A traditional fire extinguisher should be changed every ten year, typically, if you have been storing it in a cool, dry place. If you haven't, the unit may not last a full decade.

Toilet Brush: Most folks keep their toilet brushes way past this tool's life. You should be changing your toilet brush, around every six months, or as soon as you notice discoloration or damage.
