I recently installed a new countdown app on my phone
which, smartly, is named: Countdown.
It allows you to set up many countdowns. You set the event/activity/task (like Thanksgiving, for example), then enter the day of that
event/activity/task (like November 24), you choose an icon that represents your topic, and then the app counts down how many days until that date is here.
I absolutely love, love, love this
app.
So far, I have these countdowns set up:
Countdown to Pickle (Pickle = Amanda, my daughter). She will be visiting from college for Thanksgiving soon and I'm so excited about that.
Countdown to Thanksgiving Day
Countdown to my 2022 Ladies
Crafting Retreat
Countdown to Christmas Day
Countdown to New Year's Day
The photo above is a screenshot from my phone so you can see what the app will look like in your app store...and the countdowns I have set up. I don't get anything for telling you about the app...I just like it and wanted to share it with you. Also, the photo was taken on November 7th, so the "days until" is based on that day...but you get the idea.
I'm going to be adding other Countdowns, because this tool is not just for holidays.
You can have a countdown to a vacation, or a countdown to a report you have to get done for work, or a countdown to a paper you have to write for school.
You might have a countdown for a fundraiser you're hosting, or the number of days until a relative is arriving (to let you know how many days you have to get the guest room in order), or a countdown to remind you of the day to change the batteries in your smoke detector, or to get your snow blower serviced, or to send out a birthday card so it arrives on time.
Countdowns create a sense of urgency (a tap on the shoulder to start something), a sense of excitement, and motivation as well.
I highly encourage you to use countdowns in your life. They are an excellent organizing and time management tool.
