Do you have a secret goal...like writing a book, getting your home in order, making something to sell, starting a business...that you really would like to do,
but have been reluctant to begin because you have so much to do every day?
Thinking that you don’t have enough time to achieve whatever it is...is blocking you from actually doing
it.
So, how can you clear your mind and find the time to attain your goal? Here are some tips that will make this doable.
1. No more excuses. Say, "I can and I will do this" over and over again...every single day.
2. Make an appointment with yourself. Get out your calendar or phone...whichever you use to make doctor appointments, hair appointments, etc. Make an appointment with yourself to begin, and keep that appointment just like any other important
one.
3. Commit to 15 minutes a day. Yes, you have other stuff to do. You'll always have other stuff to do. Make this TO DO a priority. If you had to cash in on a
winning lottery ticket, chances are nothing would stop you. Make this TO DO as important as that winning lotto ticket.
4. Come up with 10 action steps.
Grab a set of index cards and write ONE action step on each one. Each card should be ONE simple task, like "determine supplies" if you're making a craft or "write ONE paragraph" if you're writing an autobiography.
5. Be consistent. The more you allow yourself NOT to work on your TO DOs, the further and further you're pulling yourself away from your goals. Work consistently, every single day for 15 minutes without fail.
6. State your goal on social media. Allow your spouse, kids, relatives, friends, and/or social media friends to be your cheerleaders. State your goal. Ask them to cheer you on and ask you about your goal. State your successes. State your next goal. Keep repeating. You're much more likely to keep going if you're not only accountable to
yourself.
7. Celebrate along the way. Every 15 minutes you put in puts you 15 minutes closer to achieving your goal. Maybe it's a long-term goal, but
that's OK. Just keep going, going, going. Imagine how far you'll be if you do this consistently, 15 minutes a day, for a month or two! You'll certainly be a lot further along than you are today. And give yourself rewards for accomplishing those mini-goals along the way.
Want to get something done? There is only one word you need and that is: begin.
