There is an app that many teens are currently using called BeReal. You use it in collaboration with other friends, just like a typical social media
app.
With this one, every day at a random time, everyone captures a photo within two minutes so you know what that person is doing at that very moment. It uses your front and back phone
camera so it captures what's in front of you, and a photo of you as well. Whoever is in your friend group gets to see it.
I have the app for two reasons: 1) My daughter in college uses it
so I get to see a photo of her and what she's up to daily and 2) I like to "keep up" with what the younger people are up to. Doing so keeps me informed of my daughter...as well as the current technology trends.
Learning something new keeps me young. It's rare that you'll hear me saying, "I'm too old for that."
Now, you may hear me saying, "I'm not interested in that,"
whatever it may be. And that's fine. We can't be interested in every single thing. There are just not enough moments in the day for that. And all of us have our priorities.
But don't
dismiss learning something that intrigues you or sounds interesting or fun. Don't wave off something you may want to try because you feel you're past the age limit for doing so.
Be safe, of
course. Adjust your goals to meet any physical limitations if needed. But always stay active and keep your mind churning. Do things that make you feel young and alive.
