It's January 23. Is all of your indoor Christmas decor stowed away? If not, no judging...and today is a good day to finish that up. Speaking of holidays, some
folks I know have added some fun decorative touches to their homes for Valentine's Day which is just around the corner on February 14th.
In my house, we don't have too many Valentine's Day decorations, but we do have a few wooden hearts, rose balls, and two love-inspired gnomes that I like to display on our fireplace mantel.
The hot cocoa bar photo I included above is from my friend, Tara. She is always adding super-cute touches to her home, no matter the holiday. Doing so welcomes something fun and new, keeps the current holiday front and center, and emphasizes the importance of special little touches in our lives.
I love how Tara used the tiered tray. That item can easily be used to display a variety of items to match the season and/or holiday. Another way to bring Valentine's Day into your home is covering your everyday pillows with seasonal pillow covers. In fact, we use our stardard sofa throw pillows all year, but just add pillow covers to them to change things up. This is a much better option than having to store fluffy pillows for each season. If you do this, be sure you measure your pillows first to be sure you order covers in
the right sized. You can also find a Valentine's Day inspired photo online, print it out, and frame it to add a bit of whimsy to your decor. When the holiday is over, it's
very easy to print out a new photo and
frame that one.
As you probably know, decorations can end up taking up a whole lot of room if you keep adding more and more. But by reusing "base items," like the
tiered tray, the standard pillows, or the picture frame, you
can still feel like your home is dressed up for each holiday...without worrying about where
you're going to store everything when that holiday is over for the year.
