Need a Cake Pan? See If Your Library Has One

I just thought I'd let you know about our library's cake pans. They, just like books, can be checked out for a certain number of days. Rather than having to store the various cake "form/shape" pans, one can borrow them from the library. I plan to donate mine when I come across them again.

They also have many yard games that you can borrow for a certain length of time. Perfect for kids' birthday or other parties, especially in the summer.

Simple, Elegant, Inexpensive Decorating

In relation to your newsletter about simplifying decorating, I like shopping the ornament aisles (tiny reindeer, angels, stars, etc.) and then place them about the house with various other things like artificial snow, small pinecones, real evergreen branches, tiny Christmas trees, etc.

It's simple, elegant, very inexpensive, and I don't feel badly about changing them every year.

When Life Gets Hard, Take a Step Back

I love your emails. In relation to your Thanksgiving issue, I try to be grateful. But today, Thanksgiving, I am having a hard time.

I lost my son 2 years ago followed by my husband last year...and my faithful companion, my 15 year old loyal and loving pet 6 months ago.

Thanksgiving is excruciating and as much as I try, I can't be grateful.

I know there are many with problems greater than mine, but that does not stop the pain.

So when people are complaining about traffic and wifi etc. I hope they take a step back and think of those that have no family.
