I love saving time when I can because that means more time for my priorities...my family and friends, hobbies I enjoy, time outdoors in the nice weather,
self-care, and time to focus on my goals and dreams.
1. Put whatever you're using back in ONE assigned home when you're done using it. No more searching for your keys, your
phone, your library book, etc.
2. Avoid rush hour. Nobody wants to drive (wait) in standstill traffic. Travel before rush hour starts or after rush hour ends. Less drive
time and less aggravation.
3. Power down. Every few nights, opt for zero TV or social media. Use that time to tackle a project or do something meaningful.
4. Use the same color/style socks. Seriously. Buy all the same socks in the same style and color. Less time matching them up. Four people in the family? Have each person choose their own
color.
5. Create checklists. Once you figure out how to do something (record a TV program on DVR, make labels on the computer, sync your music on your iPad, repair the
window shades, etc.), make yourself a step-by-step checklist. The next time you have to do it, you won't have to wonder how you did it last time...forcing you to start from scratch again. Another option is to make a video that you can watch in the future.
6. Group similar tasks together. When you do the same thing over and over again, you create a "rhythm" that allows you to get that task done quicker...sort of like an assembly line. So always batch like-tasks into one time session, such as answering all of your email in one session (rather than randomly dealing with it throughout the day) or running all of your errands in the same time slot in one day
(rather than handling them one a day on several days of the week).
7. Let an app do it for you. Rather than heading over to the bank to deposit your check or handle a
transfer, deposit that check on your phone or handle the transfer using your bank app. Instead of spending time at the grocery store looking for what you need, use the grocery store app to add your items to a digital cart. The grocery store clerk then shops for you and you pick up your groceries (or have them delivered) later.
8. Use the dishwasher...for stuff other than dishes. There is tons that can be washed in the dishwasher that you may not be aware of, like the microwave turntable dish, soap dishes, toothbrush holders, shower poofs, manicure/pedicure tools, kid bath toys, golf balls, and baseball caps...just to name a few.
9. Know what you're doing tomorrow...the night before. Always check tomorrow's schedule before going to bed. Assemble outfits, your gym bag, school bag or briefcase, items you need to bring
with you, etc. as applicable the evening before.
10. Create written routines for every day of the week...and follow them. You'll never have to waste time wondering what
tasks have to get done. You just check your Monday routine, your Tuesday routine, etc. and get your stuff done.
