Throughout television history, there have been countless portrayals of mothers on our screens. Some have been strict, some have been loving, and some have been
downright hilarious.
A number of TV moms have stood out as being particularly memorable and teach us valuable lessons about motherhood and life in general.
Here are some things we could all learn from based on six famous TV moms.
Clair Huxtable from The Cosby Show: Clair Huxtable was a lawyer and mother of five on The Cosby Show. One of the most important things we can learn from Clair is the importance of communication.
In one episode, Clair's daughter Rudy is upset because she feels like she's not as smart as her siblings. Instead of brushing it off or trying to fix the problem, Clair listens to Rudy and validates her feelings, which helps Rudy feel heard and
understood.
Debra Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond: Debra Barone is the wife of Ray Barone and mother of three on Everybody Loves Raymond.
Debra teaches us the importance of setting boundaries and standing up for ourselves.
In one episode, Debra is tired of Ray's constant teasing and decides to give him a taste of his own
medicine. By standing up to Ray, Debra shows us the importance of self-respect and not letting others take advantage of us.
June Cleaver from Leave It to Beaver: June Cleaver is the epitome of the typical 1950s housewife. While her portrayal may seem outdated today, June Cleaver taught us the importance of a happy home and how small gestures can make a big difference.
In one episode, June surprises her son Beaver by packing him a special lunch for school. This small act of kindness makes Beaver feel loved and cared for, which has a positive impact on his day.
Caroline Ingalls
from Little House on the Prairie: Caroline Ingalls was a pioneer mother and wife on Little House on the Prairie. Caroline taught us the importance of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity.
During one program, Caroline's husband Charles is injured and unable to work. Despite the challenges they face, Caroline remains strong and resourceful, finding ways to make ends meet and provide for her family.
Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights: Tami Taylor was a high school guidance counselor and mother of two on Friday Night Lights. Tami taught us the importance of being a role model and leading by example.
Tami's daughter Julie, in one episode, starts dating a boy who Tami doesn't approve of. Instead of telling Julie what to do, Tami shows her daughter how to communicate effectively and stand up for herself, which helps Julie make the right decision.
Carol Brady from The Brady Bunch: Carol Brady was a widow who married a widower, bringing together their six children in a blended family. Carol taught us the importance of compromise and the value of
a strong family bond.
In one segment, the Brady kids are fighting over who gets to use the bathroom first in the morning. Instead of picking sides or getting upset, Carol encourages her
children to work together and find a solution that works for everyone.
