Anytime I meet up with someone who wants to get organized, 9 times out of 10, they're embarrassed to let me in the door.
They usually say something like, "I feel
so bad about my clutter," "You're going to think I'm the most disorganized person alive," or "I frantically tried to tidy before you came so you wouldn't think I was doomed."
I always try
to put the person at ease. Life can be a struggle sometimes and there are many reasons why clutter builds. I'm never in "judgement" mode. If there's clutter in someone's home or office, there are reasons behind that clutter.
And really, there's nothing to feel bad about.
If there is clutter present, and you don't want it there, that's actually something to feel GREAT
about.
And when someone asks me for help in making that clutter disappear, that's also something to feel WONDERFUL about.
So, next time you're feeling bad about your clutter, change your paradigm.
Instead, feel great that you're committed to doing something about getting it out of your life.
