When I arrived at the Pound Fitness class I teach at my local YMCA a few weeks ago, one of my favorite class participants was there. Irma is such a lovely lady
and when I walked over to her to say hello, she was handing out small "warm" wrapped packages to everyone.
There were about 10 people in class and, one by one, we all unwrapped homemade
burritos from her. She was smiling and shouting, "Breakfast...breakfast. Burritos for everyone! They're warm and ready to eat right now!"
This was all quite hilarious...eating burritos
before a fitness class and so early in the morning. But I have to say, it was one of the best burritos I've ever had. Irma is Mexican and I could tell she puts her heart and soul into her cooking.
The appreciation in class was heart-warming. Everyone was hugging Irma and letting her know how much they appreciated the surprise, the delicious food, and especially her kindness.
Irma told us she woke up at 5:00 a.m. to make these for class. She obviously did not have to do that, but she wanted to. She brought enough for everyone and handed them out with such joy.
Her kind gesture really made that particular class extra special.
Irma had to think ahead
to bring this joy. She had to think to herself something like, "I want to do something nice for the people in class." She had to make a grocery list, buy the ingredients, wake up early, find out how many people were going to be in class, and decide how she was going to announce this surprise.
Sharing the love and happiness you have with friends is just another aspect of being organized. I find that the more organized we are, the more time, energy, creativity, and joy we have to do special things for others.
