Happy first day of spring! I hope you're doing something today to kick off this glorious season, like building a birdhouse (or painting a pre-made one), washing
the car (or bringing your vehicle to the car wash), or even getting started on your spring cleaning.
Call me crazy, but I always feel the need to "clean house" this time of the year,
whether that's reorganizing the cabinets, washing the windows, or getting outside and sweeping our home's walkway.
That being said, I don't have time to do daily marathon sessions. And
really, who has the energy or desire to spend all day cleaning?
So, I break my spring cleaning into micro-actions. For instance...
Yes, I want ALL of the windows in my home clean, but I don't want to do them ALL at once. Washing one window a day does the trick. It's do-able and doesn't take up a whole lot of time.
Yes, I want to weed out our ENTIRE paper filing system, but I definitely don't want to do that project ENTIRELY at once. Weeding out one file folder a day is the way to go. Again, it's not overwhelming and can be
done in around 5 minutes or less.
Yes, I want the garage to be reorganized a little bit for spring, but doing it all in one day? No way! Each day, my husband and I will
begin putting the winter gear into a less accessible area towards the back, and the spring stuff to a place where it can be easily accessed when needed.
Whatever project you have to do, no
matter how big it may seem, when you break it into micro-actions, it's much easier to handle...both emotionally and physically.
What micro-action will you complete today?
And when it's accomplished, be sure to get outside and do something spring-y!
