And One More Tip for Recycling
Old Maps
Hi Maria,
My church has crafty sales and we made bookmarks from maps that we fussy-cut to feature our town and others in the area. They sold like hotcakes! Always fun to see what you have to inspire us!

Saving Money When You Need to Bring Suede Items to the Cleaners
Maria,
Awhile back, one of your GON readers had a question regarding cleaning of suede items. Dry cleaners don't usually advertise it, but many run a half-off suede cleaning. I find, in my area, it generally comes within the months
of September, October, and November.
Call you local cleaners and ask if they ever offer discounts on suede/leather cleaning...and if they can give you an idea of what month(s). Put it in your calendar so you don't forget.
Our local cleaners does theirs in October. In Arizona, they have a local cleaner that does a discount in September.

While we're on the topic of suede, here's another reader tip on this
topic...
Regarding the question you had awhile back from a GON reader regarding her suede coat, I had a custom leather business for 15 years and had several occasions to have to
clean suede jackets. My experience with suede dry cleaners has not been good and have received several jackets back after cleaning that looked worse than when I sent them.
I wash suede jackets in cold water, inside out, with Woolite, gentle cycle. After washing I turn them right side out, shake well, hang on a heavy hanger with shoulder forms and hang in an airy place out of direct sunlight until
dry.
It may take several days to dry. When dry, brush lightly with a suede brush. I have not had any problems with this method.
