I just booked a flight, hotel, and car for the end of
August. It's when I take my daughter back to the east coast for her second year of college. She thrived during her first year and I'm sure she's looking forward to seeing her roommate and other friends again. Of course, I am not looking forward to dropping her off again; it's delightful having her home for the summer. As the old saying goes, time marches on.
Anyway, while I have hotels on my mind, I'd like to share some hotel-inspired organizing and cleaning ideas that you can use at home. Here goes:
1. Start with a decluttering spree: Take a cue from hotel bedrooms and aim for a clutter-free environment. By letting go of unnecessary items and creating designated spaces for the things you love, you can create a more spacious and easy-to-clean home.
3.
Make your bed daily: Just like in hotels, start your day by making your bed. This simple ritual takes only a few minutes but can transform the look and feel of your space. If making the bed feels time-consuming, consider simplifying your bedding or rearranging your room to create easier access to all sides of the bed.
4. Clean efficiently: Adopt a top-to-bottom cleaning approach, starting from the highest point in each room and working your way down. This way, any dust or debris that falls will be cleaned up during the process, saving you time from having to re-clean surfaces. Additionally, divide your cleaning tasks into zones or sections, focusing on one area at a time, just like hotel maid services do. This method helps maintain organization and
prevents back-and-forth cleaning between different areas.
5. Add some special touches: Bring a touch of hotel luxury to your home by using linen spray for a soothing aroma on your beds. You can also recreate the thoughtful amenities found in hotels by setting up a small tray or basket with items that make you feel pampered, such as a bottle of water, hand cream, and/or a selection of magazines. Investing
in luxurious bathrobes and slippers can further enhance the vacation-like experience. By incorporating these hotel-inspired organizing and cleaning ideas into your home, you can create a more serene and efficient living space, making everyday life feel a bit more like a relaxing hotel stay.
