Hi Sue,
Be sure your coffee maker is off and completely cool. Gather some baking soda and a toothbrush that you specifically use for cleaning. Wet a towel or sponge and squeeze some water (not too much) onto the hot plate.
Pour some baking soda on the hotplate, a teaspoon or two, and use your toothbrush to scrub the hotplate in a circular motion, focusing on the areas that have the most burns.
Add a bit more baking soda and keep brushing. Then wipe the area clean.
GON Reader Questions #2
Do you offer an End-Of-Life box?
Hello Maria,
I love reading your daily newsletter while I'm having my morning coffee. I've been receiving ads for different
bundles to create an end of life box. It
basically contains information to leave to next of kin to make their life a little easier upon a loved ones passing.
You feel like a trusted friend, and I was wondering if you offer something like this, or know of a recommendation for one. Thank you,

Response from Maria
Hi Terry,
Awww...thank you! Your note means so much to me!
When I received your question, I
researched some online bundles and they're all kind of pricey...$50, $100, or more.
In light of this, I've actually decided to create a resource that would serve this exact process. I'm hoping to have it available before
the end of this year.
If you (or any of my GON Readers) have ideas on how I should "name" this product, or what focuses you'd like me to include, send me your
thoughts.
Stay tuned!
GON Reader Question #3
How do I safely wipe down light switch covers?
Hi Maria,
You mentioned the importance of wiping down light switches. I totally agree. My question
is: how to do so safely? Wiping with a dry cloth doesn't do the job.
Thank you for your excellent newsletter.

Hi Monica,
If you feel you need to deep clean those light switch covers, the safest way is to turn off the main power supply in your home (at the circuit breaker), remove the light switch covers with a
screwdriver, brush away any dust with a clean paint brush or dry tooth brush specifically used for cleaning, soak the light switches in your sink (using a simple solution of water and a few drops of dish soap) and then scrub with a tooth brush if needed. Dry thoroughly, screw the light switch covers back on, and then turn your power supply back on.
If you're just trying to do a simple and disinfect, you can use use a Clorox Wipe. Be sure it's not super wet and just lightly pass over the surface.
And, of course, if they're really bad, light switch covers are generally pretty
inexpensive to replace.
Hope this helps!
