So Much Housework, But So Tired
I have so much housework to get done, but I'm really tired when I come home from work. I plop myself down on the sofa and, of course, the housework
doesn't take care of itself. Do you have any ideas for a super-busy mom and full-time worker who regularly works overtime and is so, so, so tired?

Hi Debbie,
I totally understand how overwhelming it can be to juggle a full-time job, a family, and household chores, especially when you're tired after a long day. Here are some suggestions to make things a bit easier for you:
1. Prioritize Tasks: Make a list of the most important TO DOs and focus on those first. This may be cleaning the kitchen counter so you can easily prep a meal after work or getting rid of any rotting food in the fridge.
2. Set Realistic
Goals: Don't pressure yourself to get everything done. Setting small, achievable goals each day can make a big difference over time. Perhaps after your evening shower you run a load of clothes...or after you eat a meal you immediately load the dishwasher.
3. Create a Schedule: Allocate specific time slots for
housework during your week. Having a schedule helps make chores feel less random and more manageable. Perhaps you dust the upstairs bedrooms, for instance, on Tuesday nights.
4. Delegate: Assign specific tasks to family members making the workload more evenly distributed. Many hands make lighter work. Most kids can
handle simple household tasks. Don't attempt to take everything on your shoulders.
5. Consider Outside Help: If it fits within your budget, hiring a cleaning service to come in every week or two (or even once in a while when your schedule is especially demanding) can be a game-changer.
6. Do Something Before You Sit Down: I know that once I sit down on the sofa after a long day, I don't want to get back up again. So, always do at least ONE chore BEFORE you sit down.
7. Streamline Cleaning Supplies: Keep cleaning supplies handy in key areas to save time. Having everything at your fingertips will make the process faster and less stressful.
Remember, it's okay to ask for help or seek support when needed. Balancing work and household responsibilities is
challenging, and you're doing your best. Be kind to yourself and find a routine that works for you.
