My family likes to eat out once every week or two, but we don't want those dining adventures
to break the bank. Here are a few organized strategies we use that will help you trim your eating out expenses.
1. Choose Water Over Soft Drinks
Swap out pricey sodas for a healthier and more cost-effective choice...water. Not only is
water better for your overall well-being, but it also helps keep your bill in check. Soft drinks can quickly add up. Embracing water as your go-to beverage can result in significant savings over time.
2. Splitting Meals for Sensible Portions...and Price
Many restaurants serve generous portions (sometimes way too generous) that can easily satisfy two people. Consider splitting an entrée with your dining partner to cut costs and avoid food waste. Not only will you save money, but you'll also maintain a healthier portion size, promoting mindful eating. Whenever I'm eating out with my daughter, we do this!
3. Early Bird Specials and Daily Deals
Some restaurants offer early bird specials or daily discounts during off-peak hours. Take advantage of these promotions to enjoy your favorite dishes at a fraction of the regular cost. Planning your meals during these times can result in significant savings.
4. Birthday Bliss
Celebrate your birthday by taking advantage of free meals or desserts offered by various dining establishments. Ask about birthday specials and how you can go about enjoying those offers.
5. Know Your Discounts
Familiarize yourself with available discounts such as AARP, senior discounts, and other loyalty programs. Being aware of these promotions can lead to substantial savings on your dining expenses. Make it a habit to inquire about available discounts before placing your
order.
6. Enjoy the Restaurant Experience at Home
Embrace the dining out experience...at home. Get the main part of your meal as take-out, and supplement that with a homemade fresh salad and /or dessert...both less expensive, and easy,
add-ons to make yourself.
Use some of these strategies, and you'll be able to have delightful dining-out experiences without burning a huge hole in your wallet.
