When your computer freezes up, what is the first thing you do? When mine does, I hope (and pray) that it is just feeling a bit tired or overloaded ... and
then I reboot it. Very often, this is just what it needs to begin working properly again.
As humans, we can also use a healthy reboot from time to time. Here are five ways to do so:
1. Prioritize Your Z's: When I'm beginning to feel a bit under the weather, it's generally because I haven't gotten sufficient sleep for a few days in a row. So, I'm very cognizant about getting sufficient sleep each night. Doing so does wonders for keeping me healthy and energetic each day.
2. Nourish Your Body: Say goodbye to toxic junk food and hello to a rainbow of nutrients. Load up on fruit, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains. Get rid of anything in your fridge and pantry that is not nourishing your body. Also, say goodbye to sugary
drinks and stay hydrated with water. Keep a water bottle nearby and sip throughout the day. Add some lemon or lime to it if you need a flavor boost.
3. Be active. Find a workout that you enjoy and that doesn't feel like a chore. Whether you're busting moves in your living room, mastering yoga poses at the gym, or
watching TV while riding your stationery bike, being active will help give you that healthy reboot you need.
4. Zen Out with Mindful Moments: Stress? Ain't nobody got time for that! Sneak in moments of zen throughout your day. Whether it's a quick meditation, a nature break, or simply appreciating the smell of your
morning coffee, savor those stress-busting moments.
5. Set Fun-Sized Goals: Life's too short for overwhelming goals. Trim down and set bite-sized, achievable targets. Whether it's conquering a new recipe or getting your cabinets orgaized, keep your goals attainable. Break your projects down into little bits, and tackle
each tiny goal one by one.
Just as a computer often springs back to life after a reboot, these practices can help us restore balance, vitality, and a sense of well-being. So, when the demands of life start to freeze your system, consider these five simple yet powerful ways to give yourself the reboot you deserve!
