Every month or so, I invest 15 minutes organizing my phone. This is always time well spent. I'm able to free up space and my phone runs better afterwards. Here
are some easy ways you can go about decluttering and organizing your phone.
1. Declutter Your Home Screen(s): Start by decluttering your home screen(s) to create a clean and organized layout. Remove any unnecessary app icons and widgets, leaving only the ones you use regularly.
Consider organizing your apps into folders based on categories. For instance, I have one digital folder on my phone named Travel. In it, are the following apps: Google Maps, Apple Maps, Uber, Lyft, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, JetBlue, Delta, Hilton, Marriott, Budget Rental Car, Enterprise,
SpotHero, FlyFi, and ResortPass.
If I'm looking for a travel app, I know exactly where it is on my phone, and I don't have tons of icons cluttering my phone screens.
This will not only streamline your home screen(s) but will also make it easier to find the apps you need when you need them.
2. Manage Your Notifications: Take
control of your notifications to prevent them from overwhelming you throughout the day. Review your notification settings for each app and disable notifications that are not essential.
For instance, do you really need a notification every time there is a sale at a
particular store that you rarely frequent? Or a game notification? Or a notification every time someone posts a new TikTok video?
Turn unnecessary notifications off...those that do nothing more than distract you from what you're doing. Go into your phone settings
and disable them in any apps in which it's not necessary to be notified.
3. Streamline Your Apps: Regularly review the apps installed on your smartphone and uninstall any that you no longer use or need. Unused apps not only take up valuable storage
space but can also contribute to clutter and confusion. Be ruthless in your app pruning and only keep the apps that add value to your life and workflow.
Additionally, consider consolidating multiple similar apps into one to further streamline your smartphone
experience.
4. Utilize App Organization Tools: Take advantage of built-in features to help you organize your smartphone. Most smartphones offer features such as app folders, app drawers, and customizable home screens that you can use to organize your apps and widgets.
5. Backup and Sync Your Data: Protect your valuable data by regularly and automatically backing up and syncing your phone.
Use cloud storage services such as Google Drive, iCloud, or Dropbox to backup your photos, videos, documents, and other important files...so all of these don't have to "live" on your phone, taking up unnecessary space.
I feel it's very easy to keep my phone organized since I tend to it once a month. I can do this easily while watching TV or waiting in a waiting room for an appointment. I highly encourage you to do the same.
By
investing just 15 minutes each month as well, you can declutter, streamline, and optimize your phone experience, ensuring it remains a valuable tool in your daily life rather than a source of distraction or frustration.
