GON Reader Question
Hi Maria,
I've been on track with my organizing this past winter and
spring. Now that summer is almost here, and the beautiful weather will be calling my name, I'm beginning to get concerned that I won't be motivated to stay on track. Do you have some tips for this? Thank you!

Hi Wendy,
Thank you for reaching out! It's great to hear that you've been on track with your organizing this past winter and spring. Congrats!
As summer approaches with its beautiful weather, it's natural to worry about staying motivated. Here are some tips to help you keep up your momentum and enjoy the best of both worlds.
By the way, I love being outside in the summertime too. I personally use all of these ideas as they help keep me motivated and productive when the sun is calling my name!
1. Set Clear Goals and Priorities: First, outline what you need to accomplish each day. Break down your tasks into
manageable chunks and prioritize them. Clear goals can help you stay focused and less tempted by the allure of the outdoors.
2. Work Near a Window: Designate a specific area for work or organizing. Make sure it's comfortable and free from distractions. Setting up near a window can let you enjoy natural light and a
glimpse of the outside, making indoor tasks feel less confining.
3. Use the Pomodoro Technique: Try the Pomodoro Technique: work for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. After four cycles, take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes. These short breaks are perfect for stepping outside and enjoying the weather briefly,
helping you stay refreshed and focused.
4. Incorporate Outdoor Elements: Bring a bit of the outside in. Open windows for fresh air and natural sounds, or incorporate some plants in your workspace. These touches can help you feel more connected to the outdoors while still being productive
inside.
5. Reward Yourself with Outdoor Time: Set up a reward system. Promise yourself a walk in the park, a few moments to enjoy a good book on your patio, or time to slowly sip a coffee on the front porch after completing tasks. These rewards give you something to look forward to and make it easier to stay disciplined. 6. Adjust Your Schedule: If possible, adjust your schedule to enjoy the best parts of the day. Start earlier or work later in the evening to free up time for outdoor activities in between. This flexibility helps you balance productivity with leisure.
I hope these ideas help. Keep up the
great work!
