Disposing Old Medicine
Maria,
I am new to your newsletter so you may have addressed this before. I take my 90-year old mom and my 91-year old mother-in-law to the doctor's office.
Occasionally he will change their medicine and tell them to stop taking the one he changed from. What to do about disposal? He offers to throw them away in the medical waste container in his office.
This is such a help, because disposing
of old medication can be very dangerous. I have started carrying in any old medication I find in our medicine cabinets when we have appointments. He is always glad to help dispose of them.

Wear Gloves to Clean
Hello Maria,
After reading your newsletter from February 17th about taking care of your hands, I thought
I would tell you about something that happened to my hands, or rather, my fingers. When I was about 75, I needed to have fingerprints taken and it almost didn't work. It seems my fingerprints are unclear, worn off. The technician finally managed to get acceptable prints, but it was a challenge.
This was a big surprise to me. I couldn't imagine what was the cause. Thinking back now, possibly I'd used something for cleaning, but did not wear gloves.
A couple of years later, I needed
fingerprints again, for a different reason. Once again, there was difficulty getting the prints.
I hope no future need occurs again where I need fingerprints, but I encourage all of your readers to wear gloves when cleaning.

Rotating Food in the Freezer
Good morning, Maria!
I enjoy your daily newsletter and always learn something new from it.
Rotating food in the freezer is something I try to do monthly. I keep a list of what is in my freezer on the side so I can check to see what I need
to buy or use up. I update the list as I pull something from the freezer.
We go to Florida in January so my goal is to use everything before the end of the year. We turn off the refrigerator/freezer when we leave to save
electricity.
When we return in April, I restock the freezer and start over, so we never have anything older than 8 months.
