Consolidate your essential cleaning agents—like an all-purpose cleaner, disinfectant, glass cleaner, and toilet cleaner—into a portable caddy. This will streamline your cleaning routine and make it easy to grab and go.

Decluttering Your Cleaning Supplies

We’ve all been there—our cleaning supply stash grows and grows, often beyond what we actually need. Let’s simplify things and make your cleaning routine a breeze.

1. Gather and Assess: Start by collecting all of your cleaning supplies in one spot. Check out what you have and look for duplicates or items that are past their prime. It’s amazing how many products we accumulate!

2. Check Expiration Dates: Cleaning supplies can expire, losing their effectiveness or becoming unsafe. Check the dates on your bottles and safely dispose of anything that’s out of date. Many local waste services offer special disposal (or drop-off facilities) for hazardous materials.

3. Use Up What You Have
You may find yourself with four containers of glass cleaner or three different disinfectants. Store similar types of cleaner in one area so they're perfectly visible when you need them.

Before buying more, use up what you already have. If you come across any products you don’t like or don’t find effective, bid them farewell. This helps keep your collection manageable and ensures you only keep what truly works for you.

4. Determine What You Really Need: Most homes can thrive with just a few key products: an all-purpose cleaner, disinfectant, glass cleaner, toilet cleaner, a Mr. Clean Eraser, and a cleaner for wood surfaces if needed. Stick to these essentials, and you’ll have what you need without the clutter.

Yes, in some cases, you may need a specialty product or two (like a copper cleaner or glass stovetop cleaner), but don't go overboard.

5. Consider DIY Solutions: Consider making your own cleaning solutions. Ingredients like vinegar and baking soda can handle many tasks and cut down on the number of bottles in your cabinet.

6. Keep a Cleaning Caddy: A handy tip is to keep a cleaning caddy on each floor of your home. This way, you’ll have everything you need right at hand. Just remember to keep the caddy up high or locked if you have kids or pets...safety first!
