I remember 9/11 like it was yesterday. The morning started like any other, with the usual routines and plans for the day ahead. But in an instant, everything
changed. The images of the twin towers, the smoke, the chaos, and the heartbreak are etched into my memory, never to be forgotten.
To this day, I can't shake the feeling of emptiness that washes over me every September 11th. It's a day that changed everything,
leaving a void that never fully heals.
Today, that familiar ache returns reminding me of the profound loss and the pain that so many experienced.
My heart especially hurts today when I look at where we are as a nation. It’s difficult to reconcile the unity and strength we once showed with the divisions and discord we see now.
Back then, we stood together, shoulder
to shoulder, ready to support and uplift one another. There was a profound sense of unity, a collective strength, and a determination to move forward together through the darkest of days.
We saw the best of humanity—compassion, bravery, and an outpouring of love
and solidarity that transcended differences. It was a reminder of what we can achieve when we come together, despite our differences.
Today, that same spirit seems so distant, almost like a memory from another time. It’s heartbreaking to see how far we’ve drifted apart when I know we have the capacity for so much more.
On this day, more than ever, I yearn for us to rediscover that sense of unity, that ability to come together in the face of adversity, and find a way to heal as a nation once again.
In the face of these challenges, I hold on to hope. I believe in the light that still shines within us, in our shared humanity and our ability to overcome differences.
Just as we found strength and
unity in the aftermath of 9/11, I have faith that we can find it again. We are a resilient nation, capable of great compassion and understanding.
By remembering the lessons of that day, we can reignite the spirit of togetherness and move forward, hand in hand,
towards a brighter future.
As we remember the events of that fateful day, it’s crucial that we also keep in our thoughts all the individuals, families, and friends who were directly impacting by 9/11. Their lives were forever changed, and the pain of that day is something they carry with them every single day.
Let’s honor them by never forgetting their loss, their courage, and their resilience.
Let’s honor them by respecting and applauding the opinions of others, even if they’re not our own.
Let’s honor them by being a unified nation.
Always remember, never forget.
