Question from a GON Reader
Hi Maria,
I look forward to your inspiring, practical newsletter every day...and have for many years.
The other day, you mentioned fitted sheets. I mark the sides of my sheets with an “S” in the middle near the elastic. It’s never seen when it’s in place, but is a great help when making the bed.
Also, I mark a dot on the top of my electrical and electronic cords. Then I never wonder which direction goes up when I insert in the wall plug or device.
I like your new Daily Dose in your newsletter!
My question is, do you have a suggestion or resource for a checkbook calendar for my checkbook? I have vision problems and had a checkbook calendar which included dates for only one
year. It was great. The dates were larger because it was for one year rather than the typical three years in most checkbook calendars.
Grateful,
Marilyn Glover, Fallbrook, CA
Response from Maria
Hi Marilyn,
Thank you for your kindness and for being such a loyal reader over the years. I love your practical tips—marking fitted sheets with an "S" is brilliant, and the dot on electronic cords is such a simple yet
effective idea.
I'm thrilled you're enjoying the new Daily Dose too. I really enjoy writing it!
Regarding your checkbook calendar: I completely understand the need for larger print. Here are a few suggestions that might work well for you:
1. Custom Printable Checkbook Calendars: Websites like Etsy often have printable checkbook-sized calendars that you can download and print at home.
What's nice about Etsy is you can write to the person who creates the product and ask if they could provide you with a bolder font. They won't always be able to accomodate, but one of the creators may be willing.
2. Amazon Option: You can also try Amazon. Check the size before ordering, comparing it to the checkbook
calendar that worked for you previously. I found an adorable Susan Branch pocket planner that may work for you. I don't have this planner, but it looks like the
print and boxes are fairly large.
3. Large Print Items: I did check the MaxiAids website, which specializes in products for individuals with vision challenges. They often
have calendars designed with larger print. I did not see a pocket calendar, but you might write to them for advice.
I will also leave this question open for any of my other GON Readers to respond. if someone has another idea, we'll publish it in a future edition.
Thanks again for sharing your wonderful tips and question. Readers like you truly make writing this newsletter a joy!
Warmly,
