A few weeks ago, I took a fabulous mother-daughter trip to Las Vegas—and I have to say, it
was absolutely perfect. Before I get into the highlights, I want to thank you, my amazing readers, for all the suggestions you sent our way. We followed quite a few of your recommendations, and they truly helped make the trip extra memorable.
When my daughter turned 21 in January, we didn’t get the chance to celebrate together since
she was away at college. So when she came home for spring break, I surprised her with a mother-daughter getaway to Vegas. It ended up being just what we both needed—time to reconnect, laugh, explore, and make some lasting memories.
We stayed at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino, and it was awesome. Walking through the hotel really
did feel like being in the streets of New York City—complete with charming building facades and even a roller coaster right outside our window. The energy was great, and the location made it easy to get everywhere we wanted to go.
We walked...a lot! We averaged
around 30,000 steps a day, and we felt it—but in the best way.
We made it a point to try as many fun restaurants as we could, and the food was phenomenal. One of the big highlights was Din Tai Fung—it was our first time there, and it was amazing. The soup dumplings were unlike anything we’ve ever had.
We also ate at Battista’s Hole in the Wall for classic Italian, Bahama Breeze for a relaxed tropical meal, and Yardbird in the Venetian for some truly delicious Southern comfort food. Alexxa’s Las Vegas offered a front-row seat to the Bellagio fountains while we enjoyed lunch, and
Nacho Daddy was both festive and flavorful.
We couldn’t resist stopping at Carlo’s Bakery, either—because a sweet treat is a must on vacation. Plus, Carlo's Bakery is close to my heart because I used to go there with my dad when I was young...at the original one in
Hoboken, NJ.
Outside of mealtimes, we soaked up the sunshine at the pool, explored the Bellagio’s stunning botanical gardens, and took in the grand canals at the Venetian, complete with gondolas.
A fun, unexpected moment was running into a friend from New York—what are the odds? And to make the trip even more special, we got to visit with my cousin who lives in Nevada. It all came together in the most beautiful way.
I brought along
$200 in cash for us to gamble a bit and we came home with $180. We had fun playing a little here and there, winning a bit and losing a bit, but never going overboard. It was all part of the experience—and we definitely got our money’s worth in entertainment.
Most of all, this trip reminded me why I stay organized. When you keep your
life and your schedule in order, you’re more able to say yes to meaningful moments like this. You can find the time, the space, and even the extra energy to make memories, take adventures, and truly be present.
Thanks again to everyone who contributed ideas—you helped make this a trip we’ll never forget!
