Zoo Day Picnic Plan
“When I take my grandkids to the zoo, I avoid the pricey snack shacks by packing a cooler and leaving it in the car. Halfway through the day, we take a break and head to a shaded parking spot for a picnic lunch.
I pack sandwiches on hearty rolls (they don’t get soggy), grapes, baby carrots, trail mix, and juice boxes or water bottles frozen the night before—they double as ice packs and are nicely chilled by lunchtime.
Our zoo allows re-entry...we just have to ask at the gate for a hand stamp.

Outdoor Drink Bin Done Right
“We love
hanging out on the patio, so I set up a beverage bin each time we plan to be outside. I use a metal tub filled with ice and add cold drinks before we head
out—sparkling water, lemonade bottles, and a few kid-friendly juice pouches.
At the end of the evening, I remove any unused drinks and wipe them dry before putting them back in the fridge. I also pour out the leftover ice and wipe the bin clean."

Bye-Bye, Beach Sand
“We live near the coast, so sand in the car used to be a daily issue. Now I keep a soft-bristle brush and a small container of baby powder in the trunk.
After the beach, we sprinkle baby powder on our feet and legs—this helps dry up any moisture and makes the sand slide right off without sticking.
I set a small mat on the ground behind the car so
everyone can stand comfortably while brushing off. That way, we don’t track sand into the car, and our seats and floors stay clean.
