As I celebrate my birthday today, I’ve found myself thinking less about cake and candles,
and more about time and space.
Not the outer space kind, but rather the kind that surrounds us every day. The kind that holds our families, our dreams, our work, our joy. The kind we often crowd with too much stuff, too many obligations, and too little breathing room.
Organizing has always been part of my life. But the older I get, the more I realize it’s not all about labeled containers or color-coded calendars...even though those things help.
But really, it's more about creating space to live the life I truly want. It’s about opening up time in my day and room in my home so there’s less rush and more calm. Less clutter and more clarity.
This year, I want even more space for slower mornings and peaceful walks. I want to make space for laughter
that lingers, for a new book or two stacked on the nightstand, for meaningful conversations that don’t feel rushed. I want to carve out more time for creativity...something that fills me up, even if it sometimes gets buried under errands and responsibilities.
I want to be intentional with what I allow in, whether it’s things, tasks, or
even people. And that means I have to continue the practice of editing, releasing, and refining...not just my closet, but my calendar, my commitments, and my expectations.
So I ask you...what do YOU want to make space for this year?
Maybe it's more family dinners around the table.
Maybe it’s quiet time just for yourself.
Maybe it’s a hobby you’ve been putting off or a room that’s begging to be reclaimed.
Whatever it is, you deserve it. And it starts with choosing to make room for it.
Organizing, at its heart, is a gift we give ourselves. The gift of time. The gift of space. The gift of peace.
As I step into this new year of my life, that’s what I’m celebrating most of all.
