Power Word: Peregrinate
Here’s
a word you don’t hear every day: peregrinate (pronounced pair-uh-grin-ate). It means “to travel or wander from place to place.”
It has Latin roots and was first used in English in the 1500s. It’s not just about physically traveling. It can mean
mentally wandering, exploring new ideas, or taking a break from the usual path.
There’s something wonderful about giving yourself permission to peregrinate. Whether you take a different route on your morning walk, browse a bookstore without an agenda, or let yourself think about something completely unrelated to your TO
DO list, it wakes up a new part of you.
“I spent the afternoon peregrinating through old photo albums,” you might say—and doesn’t that sound more meaningful than, “I was killing time”?
