Ever have one of those moments where you’re still clinging to the end of something, but your
mind is already jumping ahead to what’s next? That’s exactly where we are right now—one foot planted firmly in April, the other tiptoeing into May.
It’s this little in-between space I like to think of as bridge planning time. Not rushing. Not cramming. Just gently closing the door on one month while cracking open the next. It's not
about doing it all. It's about flow.
Today, I encourage you to do two simple things:
1. Clear one April task that’s been hanging
around
Take a look at your list (or your mental list.) Is there something that’s still nagging at you from earlier in the month? It might be:
-- Sending that
thank-you card you meant to write two weeks ago
-- Returning the boots you ordered that didn’t fit
-- Emptying out the tote bag you took on your last weekend
trip
-- Finishing a half-read book you really wanted to finish in April
Even one task. Something you can finish today so it doesn’t follow you into May.
2. Prep one priority for May
Think about something meaningful or even just necessary coming up in May—and take a tiny step toward it. Maybe:
-- Mother’s Day is around the corner. Start by brainstorming gift ideas
-- You want to focus on your health, so you spend a few minutes mapping out what that means—morning walks, meal planning, or finally trying that yoga class
-- There’s a school year wrapping up, and you can start a checklist for teacher gifts or graduation
events
-- You're planning a trip and can at least look up your packing list or confirm reservations
It doesn’t need to be big. It just needs to start. And starting is so much
easier when you’re not dragging unfinished business behind you.
I did this yesterday myself—crossed off a lingering task that had been sitting in my email inbox way too long, and then took 10 minutes to sketch out my main goals for May. It was such a relief to stop holding it all in my head.
So if you’ve been feeling like this month flew by, or like you’re behind somehow, you’re not alone. This isn’t a race. It’s a gentle shift forward.
Let’s move into May a little
lighter.
