The Many Types of Scissors
Most
people think of scissors as a single, ordinary tool. But there are actually dozens of specialized types, each designed for a specific purpose.
What’s interesting isn’t just the variety. It’s the intention behind them.
Each type of scissors exists because using the right tool matters. The wrong scissors may still work, but perhaps poorly.
They may require more effort, create uneven results, and lead to frustration.
There’s a subtle lesson here about fit.
When something feels harder
than it should, it’s often not a personal failing, it’s a mismatch.
Wrong tool. Wrong context. Wrong expectation.
Scissors remind us that effectiveness isn’t about trying harder. It’s about alignment. About choosing tools, methods, and approaches that match the task.
There’s also something satisfying about a tool that does exactly what it’s meant to do. Clean cuts. Smooth motion. No resistance.
Paying attention to the tools we use, literally and figuratively, can reveal where life might feel unnecessarily difficult.
Sometimes the solution isn’t effort. It’s a better fit.

"Dear Maria,
I simply loved your story What if Your Junk Drawer could talk? in your December 17th issue. I immediately got caught up thinking about what all of the items in my drawer would say. Scary!!!
This prompts me to take a hard look at what is hiding in there and listen for the messages. Thanks
for posting your newsletter every day!"
