GON Reader Question
Hello, Maria. I very much enjoy your newsletter and the abundance of information you provide. Thank you!
I am a picture fanatic (mostly family). Pictures are becoming my wallpaper. I also have a collection of cards, notes,
dried flowers from various functions.
I would appreciate your ideas on how I can retain them but display in a less cluttered manner.
Look forward to your response.

Hi Donna,
Thank you for your kindness. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the newsletter.
Your situation is one I hear about quite often. Photos, cards, handwritten notes, and small keepsakes like dried flowers are beautiful reminders of family, celebrations, and meaningful moments in life. The challenge is that when many of them are displayed at once, the overall space can start to feel visually crowded.
The goal isn’t to part with these treasures. Instead, it’s simply finding ways to enjoy them while keeping your home feeling comfortable and visually balanced. Here are several ideas that may help.
Rotate Your Displays
Instead of displaying everything at once, designate one or two small areas of your home for a rotating memory display. This could be a shelf, a tabletop frame, or a section of a wall.
Choose a few favorite photos, perhaps one meaningful card, and maybe a pressed flower or two. Every month or season, swap
them out with other items from your collection. This keeps your displays fresh and meaningful while allowing you to enjoy different memories throughout the year.
Use Collage Frames or Photo GroupingsLots of individual frames scattered
across a wall can start to feel busy. One option is to use a few larger frames designed to hold multiple photos. These collage-style frames allow you to display
several pictures in one organized space. Create Memory Albums
Cards, notes, and dried flowers are wonderful keepsakes, but they don’t necessarily have to remain on display to be appreciated.
Many people enjoy creating memory albums for events such as weddings, graduations, family gatherings, or special celebrations. Cards and notes can be placed into page protectors,
photos added alongside them, and dried flowers carefully pressed between pages. Over time, these albums become beautiful collections of memories you can revisit whenever you like.
You might choose a flower from a wedding, a special note, and a photo from the same occasion. Grouped together in one frame, they become a small memory display rather than separate items scattered throughout the home.
Keep a Memory Box for the RestFor items you love but don’t need to see every day, consider keeping a designated memory box. When you receive a meaningful card or keepsake, place it inside. Once or twice a year, you can take time to go through the box and enjoy those memories again. Many people tell me that this
intentional moment of reflection feels even more special than having everything out all the time.
Donna, it’s clear these items represent meaningful moments in your life and family history. With a little thoughtful grouping and rotation, you can continue to enjoy them while creating displays that feel more intentional and less
overwhelming.
Thank you for writing. I’m sure many other readers will recognize themselves in your question.
