What One Person Can Really Do
I
was driving last week, just going about my day, when the person right in front of me rolled down their window and tossed a fast food bag right out onto the road.
I remember feeling a mix of surprise and disappointment. It was such a small act, over in seconds...but it didn’t feel small. It stayed with
me.
And it made me think…one person really can make a difference. Not just in a positive way, but in a negative one too.
It’s easy to feel like
one person doesn’t matter much, especially when it comes to something as big as the environment. You hear about global issues, large-scale problems, and sweeping solutions, and it can leave you wondering if your small efforts even count.
But they do.
Because just like that one careless action had an impact, so do the thoughtful ones. The choice to hold onto your trash until you find a bin. The decision to pick up something someone else left behind. The pause before bringing something unnecessary into your home.
These aren’t grand gestures.
But they’re not meaningless either.
One action becomes a habit. A habit becomes a way of living. And that way of living quietly influences the people around you, whether you realize it or not.
Earth Day is a reminder that we don’t have to do everything. We just have to do something. And when that "something" is rooted in awareness and care, it adds up.
So instead of aiming for perfection, focus on intention. What you choose to do
matters.
Because one person can make a difference.
You saw how easy it is to make a negative one.
Now imagine the impact of choosing the opposite.

"Loved your message of hope in your March 24th issue. Repeating the positive affirmations you suggested are a big help.
After 58 years of marriage, I recently lost my husband. It has been the biggest challenge of my life to keep going without him, but I know I can have hope and that I can manage whatever the day brings.
Thank you for your continued words of wisdom."
