Buying Time is a Wise Thing To Do
Money can't buy happiness, or so we've been told. Maybe money can't buy us
happiness directly, but consider this...
A major study in 2017 showed that overall happiness and life satisfaction were
greater among those who bought timesaving products and services than those who
spent money on material goods. In other words, money CAN indeed lead to
happiness. This is good news for those of us who are juggling our career,
parenting and/or taking care of senior parents, housekeeping, volunteering, and
wearing all the other hats in our lives.
How do we buy time? One way could be to hire a cleaning service, whether it's
once a week, once a month, or seasonally. Or if, for instance, your walls are in
need of a paint job, you could hire an expert, especially if painting walls
isn't one of your strong suits. Professional painters and experienced
housecleaners know the best products, tools, and shortcuts to do their jobs
efficiently and can accomplish what would likely take you much longer. This can
mean less stress for you as well as a happier result.
What about buying time to take care of ourselves? You know how airlines are
always telling us to put on our own oxygen masks before attempting to put them
on our children? They encourage this because if you run out of oxygen, you can't
help anyone else with their oxygen mask. It's very important for us to tend to
our own self-care, which in turn, helps us do a better job of taking care of
other people or tasks. You might buy time for self-care by signing up for a
once-a-week yoga session, a monthly massage, or a night class in a subject that
interests you.
If you're a techie, one of the latest productivity apps might be just the thing
to let you buy time without spending a bundle of money. There are apps for
reading nonfiction books to further your career, apps for managing all your
social media, apps that act like a 'virtual assistant,' and apps to help you
focus and concentrate.
In addition to buying time, you can also 'barter' time, like buddying up with a
family member of friend. She or he can take on the chore you dread the most,
whether it's doing the laundry, mowing the lawn, weeding the garden or washing
floors. You can then reciprocate by doing your friend's most dreaded task. It's
a win for both of you, and the 'swap' allows you to spend your time happily,
instead of dreading it.
Consider where you might benefit from buying time and/or where you might be able
to forego some of your less important material purchases in favor of spending
that money on time. If it doesn't break the bank and makes life happier for you
and your family, then buying time is a very wise thing to do.

Find More Time To Do What You Love
AND Get $150 in Complimentary Bonuses!
People are always asking me how they can find more time in their lives...
* I would love to do (you fill in the blank), but there's just not enough time
* I wish I could spend more quality time with my loved ones and/or my friends
* There's just not enough hours in the day to get everything done, etc. etc.
etc.
Do you wonder why you're always struggling with your endless to do list, limited
time for yourself and others, and not even enough hours to get a meal on the
table or a good night's sleep?
If your lack of time frustrates you, you can bet that it's frustrating those
around you too. A lack of time is one of the biggest contributors to the stress
and chaos in so many of our lives.
Do you ever envy 'lucky' people who seem to have all the time in the world to do
everything they want and never seem frazzled or frustrated? Why is time such a
frustration for many...and not a problem for others?
The answer is--those who have mastered time know certain time SECRETS that
others don't.
I know these secrets, and I can't wait to share them with you. You'll find them
all in my '501 Tips and Ideas for Finding More Time for the Things You Love.'

Week Beginning February 24
1) Consolidate like-items. One big reason for clutter is that things
purchased regularly (toothpaste, shampoo, canned goods, postage stamps, boxes of
tissues, etc.) are being put back in their 'general homes,' but not in a mindful
way with other like-items. For instance, you buy canned corn. You put canned
corn in the pantry, but without putting it with 'other canned corn.' Perhaps it
gets placed in the pantry haphazardly in another area. Now you have two cans of
canned corn in their 'general home' (the pantry), but not together. When you do
this, it's very easy to look over the fact that you have two cans of canned
corn, so when you go grocery shopping, you purchase corn AGAIN. Now imagine
doing this with tons of other items in your home. Result: Overload! Consolidate
like-items so you can easily see what you have, and use up what you have before
you buy more which only causes more clutter and higher grocery bills.
2) Organize Your Donations. Have one specific container and area in
your home where all items to be donated are placed. In my house, I have a
box in the utility room that is clearly marked, DONATE. Everyone in my family
knows where it is, and they place anything they no longer need/want in this
box. When the box is full, we either bring it to our local donation center
or put it at curbside for a donation pick-up.
3) Organize gift wrap and gift wrapping accessories. I have a 2-drawer,
wooden cabinet where I organize and store gift wrap and accessories. The top
drawer holds gift bags and gift wrap, the bottom draw holds tissue paper,
bows, ribbon, and gift tags. When it's time for anyone in my family to wrap
another person's birthday, anniversary or other-occasion gift, they know
exactly where all the supplies are. By the way, I keep Christmas gift wrap
and accessories in a nearby, but separate storage cabinet. Reason-being that
holiday gift wrap is only used during the holiday season and I don't want it
cluttering up the 2-drawer cabinet that I use regularly the other 11 months
of the year.
