Are You Accountable To Yourself?
'In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never
ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own
responsibility.' --Eleanor Roosevelt
Personal accountability, in my mind, means:
1. Taking full ownership of your goals, actions, deadlines, and progress
2. Removing obstacles, like faulty thinking or excuses
3. Holding yourself responsible for the results of your choices, actions, and
behaviors (even if some of those results are downfalls)
Wayne Dyer speaks about personal choice and taking responsibility for your
personal decisions: 'Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's
not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather,
an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for
every decision and choice you make. Period.'
As humans, most of us have made excuses and come up with countless reasons why
we haven't succeeded in achieving a goal or new habit, but it's important to
hold ourselves responsible and recognize that we are in charge. We are the
captains of our own ships. We hold the power and control over our own personal
lives. We can choose to sail, or not. We can choose to weather the storm, or
not. We can choose to continue on to our destination, or turn the ship around
and go back.
When there is a new goal to be achieved (such as getting organized, exercise,
healthy eating, writing...or whatever), it's important to make yourself
accountable. Otherwise, old habits are always happily waiting to resurface, and
regression is bound to occur.
There are many suggestions for strategies to help you create new habits, such as
accountability buddies, reminders, tracking your progress and such. However,
what's really necessary is full commitment in your mind...a real commitment to
doing whatever it takes to reach your goals.
I'd like to quote Heather Schuck, as a final thought on this, 'Taking personal
accountability is a beautiful thing because it gives us complete control of our
destinies.' Focus on a goal, chart your course, set sail, weather the storms,
take full responsibility for your actions, adjust your course as needed, and
forge ahead until you reach your destination.
When you arrive, for a moment or two, stand proudly in celebration of whatever
YOU had to do to get there...
...and then continue on to your next adventure.

Potatoes, Rice, or Bananas...
Which Helps Speed Fat Loss the Best for Women?
Find Out
Which of these carbs helps speed fat loss the best for women?
1. Potatoes
2. Rice
3. Bananas
Shockingly, the answer can be all, some or none of them...
So say the results of a remarkable Israeli study published in the journal, Cell.
Here's how to make sense of this oddity:
The researchers pulled off an incredible feat by tracking how the blood sugar
levels of 800 people reacted to various foods. They tracked 46,000 meals over 7
days...the largest study of its kind ever.
And get this. For some, eating sushi raised blood sugar levels more than eating
ice cream. For others, it was the opposite. That's an incredible finding given
high blood sugar can slam the breaks on fat loss.
Who would've thought sushi would be more fattening than ice cream for some
women?
And the same holds true for carbs. For some women, potatoes, bananas, and rice
can be their worst fat-loss enemies...while for others those very same foods
can be their very best fat-loss friends.
The key is to find out how your female hormones and metabolism reacts to
different foods. This principle also applies to different exercises... what
works best for one woman may backfire for another.
So, what happens when you put your best fat-burning foods and exercises together
at the same time?
Well, that's when the stars align and life-changing transformations can happen.
This nifty tool helps pinpoint which foods and exercises help you burn fat
the fastest, based on how your own hormones and metabolism actually work.

Week Beginning February 17
1) Consolidate your surplus of hangers. Go through each clothes closet,
one by one, and consolidate all empty hangers to one side. If you have an
excess of hangers, distribute them more evenly among your closets, or donate
some.
2) Let go of some plastic food containers. Most people have way more
plastic food containers (Gladware, Tupperware, old whipped topping containers,
etc.), then they'll use in a lifetime. Keep what you truly use from week to
week, and donate and/or recycle the rest.
3) Choose one time-consuming task on your weekly schedule. Focus on
this and try to find a way to cut back some of the time working on it. Perhaps
you can delegate a portion of it, or automate it, or even eliminate it. Always
ask yourself questions like, 'Why am I doing this?' 'What would happen if
I stop doing it?' 'How can I do this better and/or faster?' There is almost
always a way to improve efficiency, but not if you keep doing what you're
doing in the way it has always been done.
'When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to
become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.'
--Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
