Is Your Bedroom Clean or Dirty Right Now?
We recently polled GON Readers, asking, 'Is your bedroom clean and organized, or
dirty and messy right at this very second?' Here are the results...
36% Nice and clean
50% Could use a bit of work
14% Really bad. I can barely find my bed!
Here are my top 4 tips for getting your bedroom clean and organized, and keeping
it that way:
1) Make your bed daily. Your bed is likely the largest piece of furniture
in your bedroom, and the room's focal point. No matter how clean and organized
your bedroom is, if the bed is not made, it's not going to look nice. Be sure
it's easy to make your bed...which shouldn't take more than five minutes tops.
If it's taking you longer than that, determine what's causing the extra time.
Too many pillows perhaps? Too many bedding layers? Too many stuffed friends?
Make life as easy on yourself as possible. Once you're done with your morning
grooming ritual, take a few minutes to make the bed. The room will look much
better...and you'll have a fresh, restful haven to retreat to in the evening.
2) No clothes in the bedroom that aren't hanging in closets or stored in
drawers. Whatever clothes you (and family members) have that require
laundering should be delivered to the laundry room immediately after taking them
off...or, at minimum, placed in a laundry basket and delivered to the laundry
room once a day. Any clean clothing should be hung in the closet or folded in a
drawer or closet cubby. For clothing you've worn once that you'd like to wear
one more time (or a few more times) before laundering, designate a special area
of your closet for these items so they're not touching your clean clothing...and
so you know that, once these items are worn again, they'll need laundering at
that point.
3) Clear surfaces. If your bedroom surfaces (tops of dressers, desk,
shelves, bedside tables. etc.) are cluttered, clear those surfaces and put any
items back in their homes where they belong. Bedrooms are meant to be peaceful
and relaxing...it's nearly impossible to sleep restfully when you're surrounded
by clutter.
4) Vacuum and dust. Launder sheets. Run the vacuum and dust all surfaces,
including ceiling fans, once a week. And launder your sheets weekly...or every
two weeks. You don't want to share your bedroom with dust mites.

The 'Natural Brilliance Mindfest' begins September 18
Move from Feeling Stuck...to Achieving Success
While counter-intuitive, the first thing you must do when you are faced with a
challenge is to let go. You need to release mental and emotional attachments so
you are not caught up by them.
It doesn't matter the challenge. It works on everything. Here are examples of
things that will no longer stop you:
Something breaks and you don't have the time, money, or knowledge to fix it.
Could be the car, a window, your computer, or a fallen tree in your yard.
There's a problem at work. You are responsible for fixing it, but you have no
idea how. Or maybe you have ideas, but you don't think they will work.
Something with your health keeps getting worse, the airlines lost your
luggage, the restaurant doesn't have your reservation, a traffic tie-up will
make you late, a neighbor was burglarized and the culprit is on the loose, a
friend has cancer, or it's raining on your way to the lake.
People who can naturally overcome challenges at will, automatically release when
faced with a challenge. It neutralizes issues so you can move beyond them.
Are you ready to overcome challenges and release your Natural Brilliance? You
can train your nonconscious mind to automatically move from feeling stuck...to
releasing stress and achieving success...by using the audio sessions of the
Natural Brilliance Mindfest free of charge.

'Making my bed correctly was not going to be an opportunity for praise. It was
expected of me. It was my first task of the day, and doing it right was
important. It demonstrated my discipline. It showed my attention to detail, and
at the end of the day it would be a reminder that I had done something well,
something to be proud of, no matter how small the task.'
