Getting Stuff Done...It's Not Just a Dream
It is a perfectly quiet morning. The birds are quietly singing outside your
window...creating a completely serene work environment. You sit down at your
desk with your cup of perfectly brewed coffee and leisurely sip away as you
immediately get focused on all of the tasks at hand. Ideas are flowing and,
within no time all of the things that you needed to accomplish are complete.
Bills are paid, emails sent, weekly meals are planned, job responsibilities are
fulfilled, and all is well with the world. Suddenly, out of nowhere, you are
awakened from this perfect dream.
Is this only a scenario that can take place in our dreams? Is it only in a dream
world that we can sit down to get work done...and can work start to finish
without having our attention pulled away by the things going on around us... and
the distractions that we allow?
No...this CAN actually be your reality if you stick to your guns and follow a
less distracted path.
Lose the Phone
Unless you need your cell phone to make calls for work, you are better off
completely putting your phone away while trying to get work done. Cell phones
have become so much more than just a way to make and receive calls.
With the fact that they are basically tiny, little computers come the multitudes
of distractions associated with them. They alert us when we get an email or a
text message. They allow us to view social media anytime and anywhere. They
allow us to play games whenever we feel the urge.
All of these things are positives...unless you are supposed to be getting work
done instead. If you truly don't need your phone and you have a lot to get done,
put it away, out of arm's reach, until you complete your tasks. All of the fun
stuff can wait until then.
Map Out Your Day
If you approach your day in a random, chaotic, 'I have no idea what I'm doing
today' sort of fashion, you're going to end up exhausted at the end of the day
and bewildered as to why nothing got done.
I find a great way to stay on task is to have a plan in place before even
sitting down and getting started. Keep an organized calendar. Mine is on my cell
phone. Whenever an event, appointment, etc. comes up, into the cell phone it
goes. I set a reminder for the day before, and the day of, so I always know
exactly what's coming up.
In addition, I make a list of the things I need to accomplish TODAY, in order
from most important to least important, and cross each off as its completed.
Having a visual of what I have to do, what I've done, and what's coming up helps
me tackle the day in an organized fashion. This, in turn, motivates me to keep
going and helps me to stay focused on that which I still need to complete.
Don't Overload Your Schedule
Sometimes staying on task is as easy as DOING LESS...scaling back on what you
are expecting to get done. Sometimes, life can get overwhelming when we look at
ALL the things we need to accomplish. Too extensive of a list can look
insurmountable when you view it in its entirety.
If you were to make a list of all of the components that go into building a
house, the job would inevitably seem too big to ever complete. But if you took
the same list and broke it into manageable sections, it no longer appears
impossible to do.
The same can be done with your daily TO DOs. Breaking your 'EVERYTHING TO DO
List' into smaller sections will make it seem less overwhelming. It, in turn,
becomes a better tool for you to stay focused. Having a manageable list to work
on will allow you to complete the tasks and help keep you from getting
distracted by other things.
This is why I always suggest you place EVERYTHING you have to do on a Master
List, and only copy over four TO DOs at a time to your daily TO DO list. Do
not add anything else to your daily TO DO list UNTIL those four TO DOs are
done. Then, pull over four more tasks...and so on.

Brain Training for Dogs
Is the Secret to Making
Your Dog's Problem Behaviors Disappear
GON Readers LOVED this so much...
That We're Extending the Original Special Offer
Until Friday, October 12th!

No matter what your dog's problem behavior is, be it jumping, peeing
inappropriately, aggression, pulling on the leash...or whatever, there is ONE
SOLUTION that can help STOP this problem now.
The sad fact is, most dog trainers miss this solution entirely. They give you
cookie cutting training programs. They use outdated and `mean' dominance
techniques. Or worse yet, they have no qualifications and are complete phonies.
So what's the answer to stopping your dog's behavior problems? In 5 simple
words...
Discovering your dog's hidden intelligence.
Let me explain. More intelligent dogs are better behaved. A more intelligent dog
takes commands easier and understands what you need from them. The good news is,
no matter how clever you think your dog is, you can unlock their hidden
intelligence quickly and easily.
Don't waste a second longer coping with problem behaviors you don't need to be
dealing with. Visit this link to learn more about Brain Training for Dogs:
