TO DO This Week
____ 1. Shake out any entryway rugs. Rugs placed at doorways can hold a
lot of dirt that gets tracked in from outside. If they're not too heavy, take
these rugs outdoors and give them a really good shake. If it's too cumbersome to
shake them outside, vacuum them well. The less dirt on them, the less dirt that
will get tracked inside your home.
____ 2. Match up your plastic storage containers: When you purchase
plastic storage containers, they come with one lid and one base. For space
saving purposes, the containers often get 'nested' (one inside the other), and
the lids often get separated from their mates. Take some time this week to match
up the pieces, making sure every base has a corresponding lid. There is no
reason to have a lid without a base, or vice versa, so recycle any pieces that
no longer have a mate. This is a good time, as well, to weed out your storage
container collection if it's overflowing.
____ 3. Clean out your freezer: Although freezing food does make it last
longer, it's not going to keep your food fresh forever. Packages that have been
opened and then put back in the freezer are especially prone to freezer-burn and
can even absorb odors. Toss out anything showing signs of damage or that has
been on ice for an overly long period of time. Then, make a point to only buy
frozen items that you know you will be using in the not too distant future.
