____ 1. Complimenting Specifically. It's easy to compliment others if you're always on the lookout for people doing something nice...which is actually quite often. For instance, I appreciate what some of my friends do for me or for the community and enjoy telling them. Be specific in your compliments. Not just saying to a policeman, 'Thanks for all you do,' but saying 'Thank you for all the hours you put in keeping our community safe.' Not just telling a friend, 'Your company does great work,' but rather, 'I really like the new ads you put out about your company. It shows that you put a lot of thought into the details of the signage.' Or compliment someone's son or daughter by saying, 'He showed great sportsmanship by passing a lot during the soccer game today and helping the opponent to his feet after he fell..'

____ 2. Color Coding in the Clothes Closet. I organize my closet by keeping pants together, long-sleeve shirts together, short sleeves together, etc. Likes with likes. Then I organize each of those categories by color from darkest to lightest. So my black shirts are on the left and white on the right... with a rainbow in between. This helps me find an article of clothing right away. For instance, I can find a red, short-sleeve shirt super-fast since that is how I'd look for it. People who have work uniforms can place all their uniforms together so they aren't mixed in with other clothing.

____ 3. Goo Gone. I've been a fan of Goo Gone for years but have just recently discovered a new use. For years, I have been using it to remove price tags off presents and stickers from glass. This year, after washing and drying a name tag on my shirt, I discovered that Goo Gone can actually remove adhesive residue and make a seemingly ruined shirt wearable again. First, put a small amount of Goo Gone on a cotton ball and rub the sticky area until it feels smooth, then rub that same area with Dawn dish soap and water, and finally launder as usual. By the way, this process also works great if you end up with tree sap on your clothes! For more information about Goo Gone, visit:

P.S. Important: Although Goo Gone will help remove sticky substances from most fabrics, don't try this with silk, leather, or suede.
