TO DO This Week
____ 1. Try out a new recipe. If you've been 'pinning' endless recipes on
Pinterest, why not actually make one this week? It's a great way to shake things
up a bit, especially if meals have been the 'same old-same old' lately.
____ 2. Weed out your surplus of grocery bags. How many paper or plastic
grocery bags are you holding onto. If just a few, great. If you have enough to
last you through the next century, it's high time to let a whole bunch go. For
excess plastic bags you'll never use, visit this web site to find a recycling
drop-off location in your area if you live in the United States or Canada:
Plastic Bag Recycling Drop-Off.
Excess paper bags can be added to your paper recycling container. Also, this
is a great time to 'go green' and switch to reusable cloth bags!
____ 3. Clean makeup brushes and sponges. When was the last time you did
this task? If it has been awhile, definitely do so this week...and once-a-month
minimum thereafter. Why? Two reasons: 1) Makeup brushes and sponges are porous
and hold onto oils, debris, and bacteria. Yes, debris and bacteria...so dirty
makeup brushes can be making you sick or causing your skin to break out. 2) The
dirtier the brush or sponge, the more likely the application of your cosmetics
will be less than stellar (spotty, not blended well, etc.)
Here is the best cleaning method for makeup sponges:
1. Mix mild soap and water in a microwave-safe cup.
2. Fully submerge the sponge in the cup.
3. Zap it in the microwave for one minute. Allow to cool for a few minutes.
4. Remove the sponge from the water, squeeze the water out, and allow to air
dry on a paper towel.
Here is the best cleaning method for makeup brushes:
1. Rinse the bristles in lukewarm water.
2. Place a drop of makeup brush cleanser into the palm of your hand.
3. Gently massage the bristle tips in your palm.
4. Rinse the bristles.
5. Squeeze out any excess moisture with a paper towel.
6. Reshape the brush head.
7. Place the brush in a glass or jar with the bristles facing up.
8. Allow the brush to air dry.
