____ 1. A clean car during winter months. Keeping the car clean, especially for those of us who live in cold-weather, snowy states, can be challenging. But ignoring your vehicle(s) until spring, and allowing constant exposure to road salt, snow, and moisture, can result in rust. Once rust starts, it's incredibly hard to stop. So, what to do? When it begins snowing, bring your car to the car wash at least every two to three weeks. You can do it yourself, of course, but the car wash is quicker and easier. Try to avoid washing your car on a brutally cold day. If possible, wait until temps are around the high 30's. While you're at the car wash, use their vacuums to remove dirt and crumbs from the interior. By the way, although I'm not thrilled with the way it looks, my husband and I remove the nice cloth mats from the car during the winter months and use the rubber mats instead. When spring arrives, we rotate the nice cloth ones back in...and they're super clean because they weren't being constantly stepped on with wet, slushy boots.

____ 2. Soup and salad for dinner: Soup and salad for dinner? Yes, please. During winter months, I'll often make a soup in the slow cooker...which means a hot, satisfying part of dinner is served quickly and easily. There are so many wonderful options, like lentil soup, minestrone, chili, or chicken dumpling. Yum. I'll often pair the soup with a salad filled with healthy vegetables, seeds or nuts, and some cheese...and topped with homemade dressing.

____ 3. Allergen-free air filters: This is the time of year to begin thinking of this...before pollen is in the air and makes its way into your home. Last year, we tried allergen-reducing air filters and it has definitely made a difference in our home. My family members all experienced a reduction in allergies. It costs a little more per filter, but the ability to breathe easier is so worth it. You do need to change them often (every couple months) so they keep working well. Here's the link to the kind that we purchased. https://amzn.to/2TzjFaH If you get them, be sure to choose the appropriate size for your needs.

  In Closing

'When you get into your car, shut the door and be there for just half a minute. Breathe, feel the energy inside your body, look around at the sky, the trees. The mind might tell you, 'I don't have time.' But that's the mind talking to you. Even the busiest person has time for 30 seconds of space.'
--Eckhart Tolle
