What To Do With Tons of Photos on My Cell Phone
A GON Reader Asks:
Hi Maria,
I have tons of photos on my cell phone and I have no idea what to do with all
of them. Your thoughts?

Maria Gracia responds:
Hi Robert,
Ever since the dawn of cell phone cameras, as a society, we're taking more
photos than ever. In fact, we're taking so many that they're filling up our
phone (or Cloud) storage, and it's often extremely challenging to find the photo
we're looking for without spending endless time scrolling.
Since you have a ton of photos on your phone, it's going to take a bit of work
and time to begin getting them off your phone and organizing those you wish to
keep. I'd suggest 10 minutes a day until you're caught up.
Here's my system.
1) I take a photo...or series of photos.
That same day...
2) I delete any photos I took that are not worth keeping.
3) I edit any photos as needed
4) I post any photos I wish to social media
5) I upload my photos from my phone to my photo service...SmugMug. I pay a small
annual fee to use this service. I like using a service like this because I can
easily organize my albums, share my photo slideshows with family and friends,
find anything I need quickly, and have all my photos backed up
6) I then delete the photos from my phone...so I have a fresh start the next
day
7) I'm a scrapbooker, so when I'm ready to scrapbook a layout, I print the
needed photos using my photo printer. For you, or anyone who might like to have
some hard copies for your memories, you can print photos yourself (or have a
company like Walgreens or Shutterfly print them for you), and then insert into
photo boxes or albums.
Hope this helps give you some direction!
