My 5 Favorite Quick Tips for Traveling

If you're planning any travel, here are five of my favorite tips to stay organized:

1) Snap a photo of your luggage. If you're checking in baggage to an airline, cruise line, etc., take a photo of your luggage. If, heaven forbid, the bag gets lost, you'll be able to provide a photo to 'Lost and Found' rather than trying to describe it.

2) Pack half in one and half in another. When traveling with someone else, don't divide your clothes 'by person' because if one of your pieces of luggage gets lost, then one person is without any clothes. Instead, pack half your clothes in your bag, and half the other person's clothes in that same bag. Then, pack the other half of your clothes in the other person's bag with his/her belongings. Usually TWO suitcases don't get lost at the same time, but if one does, at least you'll both have some clean clothes.

3) Try staying at a destination that offers a washer and a dryer. When searching for hotels, the availability of a washer/dryer is definitely a factor for me because I always launder clothes before I pack them back up to return home. I usually wake up early and do this the morning of my last day of vacation. In doing so, you can come back from vacation relaxed...and not have to worry about washing several loads of laundry. (Don't forget to bring some laundry pods and dryer sheets...and I also always bring two large, mesh laundry bags for easy clothing transport in hotels.) By the way, if the hotel doesn't have laundry services and I really want to stay in that hotel, I locate the nearest laundromat at my destination point and wash there.

4) Make a packing checklist and use it. Before you leave for a trip (even an overnight stay) use a checklist...checking off each item as you put it in your suitcase. Then, before you zip up your suitcase, put the list in it. Use that same checklist to ensure nothing is left behind when you're ready to return home.

5. Don't add a ton of shoe weight. Pack shoes that can be worn with multiple outfits. Shoes, sandals, and other footware can add a considerable amount of weight to your luggage. See if you can get away with lugging around no more than two pairs of shoes...a dressy pair and a casual pair. Wear sneakers when traveling...and that's your third pair.

If you love custom furniture, shelves
and accessories made of wood...

And if you or your spouse
like creating with wood...

You will LOVE this resource...

Ted's Woodworking Plans...
16,000 plans, plus bonuses

to create gorgeous pieces out of wood

So many of our readers are RAVING about this resource, but it's my final reminder, so don't forget to check it out within the next 4 hours...

It's amazing what you can make out of wood, for a fraction of what it would cost in a store. Plus, there's something truly special when you have something in your home that was made with your own hands...or the hands of someone in your family.

Whether you've been wanting your own custom set of Adirondack chairs, a new barn, a bird house, coat rack, chest, coffee table, doll house, deck, dresser, fence, guitar, hutch, mailbox, planter, play house, shelves, stool, tray, toy, wishing well, or (you fill in the blank!), you'll find STEP-BY-STEP instructions, photos, tutorials, and diagrams to make every project laughably easy.

Ted's collection of plans are some of the best I've seen. If you're a woodworker, you really don't want to miss out on this. No matter what, at least have a peek. For details, visit:
